Steampunk is an installation built for the 5th edition of Tallinn Architecture Biennale, celebrated in autumn 2019. Gwyllim Jahn and Cameron Newnham (Fologram), Soomeen Hahm Design and Igor Pantic are the authors behind this piece, an experimental wooden installation that literally intertwines traditional crafts with cutting-edge contemporary technologies.
Being built with wood, an organic element, the installation is alive and therefore has aged (quite well actually) in these 2 years, which is shown in the photos, shot in November 2021.
The 4m tall pavilion stands fiercely on top of a little rise in front of the Museum of Estonian Architecture and harmonizes with the biennale’s main theme Beauty Matters, aiming to defend the status of beauty in response to alienating and ecologically unfit built environments.
Thank you all!
