宁静的 Sabo · 2020 年隔离期间的街景摄影丨尼日利亚拉各斯丨Nosakhare Iyamu

1. Heart of Yaba, Sabo. 

I remember looking outside the window from the building where I work and all I could see and feel was peace and quietness. Never would i have thought i would see Sabo so peaceful and quiet at the time I looked outside the window. That's because Sabo, is always bubbling, it's never really quiet, from the vehicles to the suya sellers and night clubs to sex workers taking over the night; It's always alive. I just had to capture this peaceful scene.

2. Stall Owner.

We call them Aboki or Mallam (Aboki means friend and Mallam means learned man or scribe according to google) here in Lagos, they are people from the northern part of Nigeria that migrated down to the west for mostly business. The man in the picture sells items in small quantity, ranging from toiletries to groceries. You would find items like toilet rolls, biscuits, bread, milk, noodles and some other items. They basically run their services in small streets that have clusters of people living together in a particular area.

3. Reflection.

Here is a self portrait I took from inside a office building. I was shirtless and just enjoying the evening (P.S. Don't tell my employer). I think I kind of did a lot of reflecting during the quarantine.

4. Night Crawler.

I love this particular picture, because of the way I took it. Here you can find a night crawler taking a stroll along Sabo during curfew hours. I think he's not used to the quietness that comes with the quarantine. Only God know if he got caught or made it to his destination.

5. The Bread Seller.

I remember taking this one, very early in the morning. Everywhere was quite chilly and damp as rain already fell the previous night. I just brought out my phone and took a shot.

I really can't remember much about this shot, but I love the ambience.
