Entitled "Il Perturbante" in this latest work the Gods in Love have addressed the theme of the "double" starting from the Freudian analysis. For Freud, Double is connected to the concept of repression. The Ego, by splitting projects onto the Other removed desires and unconscious impulses and precisely these aspects, which differentiate it from the Like, guarantee its denial and allow it to affirm "I am not He".Freud had theorized how the ego wanted to maintain a certain individual unity and to fight that tendency to duplication, fragmentation and the split that characterizes every human being. This tendency finds more free expression in dreams, populated by characters who are essentially nothing but duplicates of the dreamer. They represent personifications of partial aspects of the personality, of its contradictory desires and tendencies and censored by the consciousness of waking.Through these duplicates the forbidden desires can finally find an outlet and fulfillment precisely through the nocturnal dream. He had therefore identified a fundamental characteristic of the Double, namely his ability to realize all the opportunities not experienced by the ego and all the possibilities that the person had not been able to exploit.
