Vij5 serves a uniquely important role connecting designers, makers and buyers through their brand. Arjan van Raadshooven and Anieke Branderhorst founded Vij5 in 2006, initially so that they could market their own products. (Their best known design is the Flex Vase , which they won a Dutch Design Award for in 2009.) But at some point, a different kind of business plan was hatched, a platform that got them started publishing home accessories , lighting and furniture as the Vij5 collection. The most important thing to the duo when collecting concepts is beautiful, functional design and a story behind it. The ones they choose are then developed into products that are produced and distributed throughout the world.
