Location:Boulevard Adolfo López Mateos 2008, Los Alpes, Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico
Project Year:2019
Category:Apartments
Periférico 2008 is located on one of the busiest streets in Mexico City, it is a very different housing solution, not only in its immediate surroundings, but throughout the city, since it offers outdoor spaces where the vegetation not only plays an aesthetic role, but also a sustainable one.
It contrasts in its surroundings for its volumetric solution and is characterized by its terraces in which there are more than 200 trees, which are part of 4,500 m2 of green areas distributed on all levels. Using local urban normative instruments, an orthogonal volume of 15 levels with only 20% free area was transformed into a volume of 34 levels with 50% free area.
This housing tower has 184 apartments distributed in 32 levels and has different common areas such as: swimming channel, gym, toy library, business room, multipurpose room, green terraces and terrace with pool.
Due to the location of the work, other very important factors needed to be resolved: such as the noise from the avenue, the visuals of the apartments and pollution. For this, natural lighting and ventilation were provided through the insulated windows, added to the perimeter "double wall" of the facades, to avoid thermal gains and dissipate noise. Approximately 2,000 m2 of surface were allocated to catch rainwater, achieving an average saving of up to 5,000 liters of water per day in the rainy season.
