A new retail destination offering a curated edit of the best contemporary design opens its doors within a historical setting
Set in a traditional Hutong, House of Wang bring together some of the best contemporary design brands and creators offering a full lifestyle service
Set within Beijing’s ancient Baofang Hutong, House of Wang is a new retail concept offering the best international design in a historical setting.
Initially launched as a digital platform soon followed by a physical store, House of Wang follows the unprecedented growth of the luxury design market in China. With the aim of bringing together a diverse range of creative influences, founders Ruby Ren and Eric Wang focused on selecting the best contemporary brands and designers ranging from Apparatus and 1882 Ltd to Nada Debs and Calico Wallpaper.

House of Wang operates as a ‘master brand’, blending together different aesthetics while celebrating their individual identities. ‘Each work selected by House of Wang showcases eclectic elegance in its forms and materials, every brand chosen is devoted to the designer’s perception of life, and each design language uniquely illustrates the sensibility and character of its creator,’ says Ren. ‘At House of Wang we can touch, feel, listen to stories about products and be moved by authentic design works.’
While serving as a platform for design, House of Wang also works closely with architects and interior designers to help streamline project operations in the country. Within the hutong, the brand presents an immersive design experience offering a lifestyle point of view that integrates a diverse range of cultural influences.
