In the age of Information Overload, the irrelevant or redundant data occurring along with desired information sprawls from Internet spaces into physical spaces. Overloaded information has prevented the exhibition spaces of traditional forms to effectively convey and filter information, let alone meeting the particular demand of different sorts of visitors. This phenomenon is particularly apparent in World Expo pavilions where overloaded information in representing nation’s identities meets with massive amount of visitors (estimated 70 million visitors for Shanghai World Expo 2010). The growth of information is much faster than of our cognitive ability. Therefore the traditional circulation of exhibition pavilions fails in effectively convey and filter information to each individual visitor. The spatial organization of a pavilion should shift from the “taxonomy” of exhibits as information into the “folksonomy” of information and visitors as a whole. This project aims at developing a prototypical organization of exhibition galleries.
