Le 4 Porte Business Park (The 4 Doors) is the result of the transformation of the IBM headquarters constructed at the beginning of the 2000’s by the architects Gabetti-Isola. The changes in the workplace universe that took place in the years following the construction of the previous complex brought about an inevitable change of perspective. A propulsive center, the headquarters of a single subject capable of autonomy on the market and in the city, while also being an attraction center for new relations and tenants. 

The 4 points of view on the surrounding territory become, therefore, 4 access doors. Perhaps the original building complex intended to inspire the surrounding territory into a collective growth, but this didn’t happen and it is no longer the right moment for strong auto-referential gestures. 

The new concept of workplace has been developed for hybrid spaces, capable of offering creative contamination, which is the power that generates useful ideas for the knowledge economy. With this awareness in mind, Il Prisma acted in the transformation of the entire real estate volume (ground floor and -1) by turning it into a great meeting center animated by a welcome area, a bar, a congress hall, a gym and a co-working space. The entrance to the building changes radically because the flow from the surrounding heterogeneous landscape is directed through the center of the business park.

Le 4 Porte Business Park nasce dalla trasformazione dell’IBM Headquarters realizzato nei primi anni 2000 dagli architetti Gabetti-Isola. I cambiamenti del mondo del lavoro verificatesi negli anni immediatamente successivi, infatti, hanno reso necessario un cambio di prospettiva. Da centro propulsore, sede di un unico soggetto in grado di proporsi in modo autonomo sul mercato e nella città a centro attrattore in cerca di nuove relazioni e tenants. 

I 4 punti di vista sul territorio circostante si fanno, dunque, 4 porte di accesso. Forse il complesso originale aveva l’ambizione di orientare lo sviluppo del territorio circostante, ma questo non è avvenuto e probabilmente non è più tempo di forti gesti autoreferenziali.

Il lavoro si sviluppa oggi in molti luoghi ibridi in grado di offrire quella contaminazione generatrice delle idee utili alla knowledge economy. È questa consapevolezza che ha orientato la trasformazione di tutta la piastra dell’immobile (piano terra e meno 1) in grande centro di incontro animato da area welcome, bar, spazio congressi, palestra e co-working. L’esperienza di accesso all’immobile cambia radicalmente perché da etereo ingresso quasi sospeso sul paesaggio circostante si fa flusso che spinge attraverso le viscere del business park.
