巴西传统街区 Casa Moca 酒店丨Moca Architecture

A memorable architectural structure, in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Curitiba, south of Brazil, becomes an inspiring and cozy environment for art lovers. Casa Moca, created by Moca Architecture, manifests the meticulous look of the office partners, Ana Sikorski and Katia Azevedo, in an environment designed to promote events and welcome visitors.

The space, which was previously used as a warehouse, concealed a large structure, with double height ceilings, large windows, trusses and wooden frames. Details that motivated the renovation and restoration of the place, starting with the infrastructure of the new bathrooms, expansion of the windows and the creation of arched portals for the integration between the areas. In this project, the use of muted colors and directed lights was fundamental to highlight the pieces of art and articles thrifted by the architects.

On the floor, a shade of red was used as a reference to old buildings, awakening affective family memories in those who visit the place. The color is also present in the countertops and armchairs, enhancing the simplicity of the furniture. The chandeliers were another important focal point for the development of the concept, as they provide indirect and intimate lighting for the environment. The use of noble materials, such as marble slabs and integrated light fixtures, contrast with the rustic structure and complement it with a more sophisticated look. The final project is “formed as a great curatorship of what Moca Arquitetura is all about”, says Ana.
