 "The Black Stairs"
When a family with 3 children bought a 4-level house in the center of the country, it was clear that designer Erez Hyatt was the address for a rare and unique design on this landscape. The family's parents wanted a different house than all others they already saw, with an emphasis on a boutique home that would give hospitality like a modern hotel without giving up the warmth. When the designer Erez Hyatt arrived on the scene, he saw in his eyes space where a power wall stands, contrast games, and a combination of dramatic materials made up of concrete, wood, dekton, and Perlato.
And so it was. The entrance to the house was characterized by clean modernity just waiting to cover whoever enters. The front door, including the wall around it, is covered by horizontal patterned stripes in wood texture and framed in a black rectangle which is the result of the gap created around it. The black gap corresponds with the kitchen carpentry, as well as the black switches for it, which, like all of the home switches, are chosen with a clean line and a beautifully elegant look.
To the right of the door, there is a white carpentry complex with a hidden storage closet, family room, guest bathroom, and only an opening knob suggests something is hiding there. In front of the white cube contrasts the black kitchen perfectly with all its glory. Its design in clean lines makes it dramatic and quiet at the same time. At its center stands a black dekton free-standing island, surrounded by black chairs as well, all of which stand out against the bright background of the gray Perlato flooring. The Perlato creates a flowing feeling as it presents an asymmetrical and messy example on the one hand, but creates the calm ground on the other.
The black color indicates that it is a brave design choice that presents the entire space as artistic, and the kitchen in particular as a true work of art. The entire ceiling is painted white, thus balancing what is happening underneath, while eliminating the environmental noise around it. As with any project, here too, the designer uses it as a design-dimension, creating lighting games of circles and elongated lines that create a formal composition as a multifaceted design act. The lighting itself is functional and creates tension between the spaces as it darkens and illuminates each element individually while being responsible for diverse scenarios for the changing daylight hours.
The transition to the living room passes through the black staircase, which is the mainstay of the house and serves as a sculptural element. They both have a black matt finish and a visual connection between the 3 levels, and they also have a responsibility for the design tone, as well as the dynamism of the space. They are accompanied by a glass rail that does not compete for attention against them and highlights them from every point in space. In their center, A planter made out of the same material was located, with a tall impressive tree, evidence to the attention into the smallest details. They are closely related to the living room next to them so that the two black stairs are located at the exact height of the black bottom of the TV wall in the living room behind them.
Right from the start of the designer's project, it was clear that he wanted a huge living room, and indeed the living room occupies a large area from the entrance floor. The sofa and the cupboard have a game of lightness and heaviness, and also at the cupboard itself, there is a game between his top part to the bottom. The cupboard is part of the power wall, which is the designer's fingerprint for each project, which receives a different expression in each home. It is made of vertical and symmetrical oak stripes that were painted according to the exact shade of the designer's choice, where behind them, a storage for space is hiding. The upper part is removed from the floor and appears to be a floating mass with a gray dekton step that is illuminated by a hidden illumination bar underneath. In the space between the wood and the dekton, black carpentry was designed to create a dramatic gap, repeating the black blend grill above it.
The black color also returns in the wall perpendicular to the power wall and presents a sculptural element by itself which is covered with asymmetrical carpentry in varying rhythms that create a quiet noise in the space, which shows interest but does not interfere with the space balance and calmness. Another contribution to the space is in the frame it creates along with the black kitchen that wraps those sitting in the living room as a repetitive harmony of materials and colors.
The living room furniture is made of comfy sofas with non-symmetrical height and width handles, with 2 airy and minimalist tables of various materials located at their center. The furniture sits on a gray floor carpet that is darker than the floor, defining the living room area as well as highlighting the brightness of the sofa.
The back of the couch and its vertical wall are patterned with concrete as the pattern of the entrance door wall, creating an interesting design frame for those relaxing in the living room. The gray curtains that dangling on the windows inside the concrete wall join to the very interesting frame. At the junction between the concrete walls standing a large planter that strengthens the connection between the interior and exterior, enriching the home with natural life.
Upstairs, there's the parent bedroom, which is a pleasant and carefully decorated space. It is paved with a fishbone parquet that creates warmth in the modern space with its laying form creating an interesting foundation for the entire room.  There is also a bed draped in a pampering gray back with two hanging lights on both sides. In front, stands a free-standing black closet with a TV stand planted inside, and in front of it a white closet, which together creates a kind of luxurious closet-room.
The luxury bed rests on a wall coated in black dramatic carpentry of varying sizes and depths, and a door is located in the same cladding on line 0 that enters the bathroom. The bathroom cabinet is made of walnut wooden moldings, and a hint to this material is already located in the dresser next to the parent's bed. All sanitary ware, including the towel warmer, are selected in black, creating visual harmony on the walls of Perlato, which begins with the floor.
The black color of the house is the evidence to the designer's perception that it is a warm color that suits all home spaces, and thanks to the contrasts of cold and warm or light and dark colors, the designer has created a balance that is responsible for pleasant warmth and perfect design.
