The Kenneth Hunt Garden is located at the Clayton Campus of Monash University, Melbourne. Monash University and the Department of Engineering commissioned the redesign of this enclosed courtyard following the removal of a central building. The garden was a major renovation of an existing mixed Australian modernist and English style courtyard garden.
It is a space that has historic and sentimental value for the University, due to being the only space on campus that had a plant pallet that was exclusively exotic. The professor of engineering at the time Ken Hunt had significant input into the design and selection of the plant species. A tree cloned from the original Newton Apple tree was planted by Louis Matheson, the Victorian Chancellor at the time and is thought to have been the one Newton sat under as he conceived of the law of gravity and motion.
