Tike is located in one of Belgrade’s most historically and culturally rich streets, characterizing the ultimate spirit and heritage of the Balkan region. Home to the Serbian Patriarchate, the Cathedral Church, the only mosque in Belgrade to this day, the building of the Jewish Municipality and the Jewish Historical Museum, as well as some of the oldest shoemaking craft stores in the city.

The Tike boutique is ‘the’ sneaker store of the region, with contracts that bring limited series editions and unique models to the home front; making it one of the most exclusive footwear shopping destinations in this part of Europe.

The interior of the store works in conjunction with the historical and cultural context of the site as well as everything that defines the concept of the sneaker subculture: the fashion, the cult, the religion, the trend of the decade. The juxtaposition and layering of the ancient and futuristic – unfinished surfaces and rough textural elements, raw, exposed walls, arches, verses, antique furniture pieces, the suspended joinery and shelving system that holds rows and rows of the latest ultramodern sneaker models, drawing connotations to Italian futurism and the cult of the machine age.

The discrete emphasis of speed, technology, youth and violence projected through the space, complemented by the flowing beats of 2pac and crowd buzz that floods the background. An open stage between décor, film, cathedral, the museum; bringing the past into a dialogue with the present. On a stage where everyone is given their own role to play, the warehouse becomes the scenography, the dialogue is led by the in-the-know shop boy, who besides holding the role of a salesman, becomes the curator of the scene, and finally, the host who’s there to offer a cup of coffee or a cold beer, concluding the all up monumental experience of the Tike boutique.
