The subtle contrast between Sevilla’s rich tradition and a formal contemporaneity is the identifying characteristic of One Shot Palace Conde de Torrejon.
The interior design has been carried out by Alfaro-Manrique Atelier, just as much of the furniture and lightening elements.
The former palace, restored as 4 star superior boutique hotel, was built in 16th century, and nowadays is part of the historic memory of Sevilla. The building’s history and the different changes made over it throughout years are written on the project: taking part of the narrative and through the use of different materials and solutions coming from Andalusian tradition. Flooring marble figures, wooden coffered ceilings designed as a floating canvass, bright colorful tiles and brick arches around the courtyard make the background of a new landscape, characterized by formal shaping furniture upholstered with rich and intense colored fabrics in red, orange, blue and green. The colors and formal style give the project a contemporary touch which is the perfect complement to the historical narrative of the design.
The lamps turn on an important part of the design, creating a play of light and shadow which defines the spaces and remembers the typical light contrasts of Sevilla. The clean guestrooms, quiet and simple, are opened over the covered courtyard, and the suites, placed on the former palace, gain their own identity through the wooden coffered ceilings.
The hotel reflects the formal richness of Sevilla, characterized by modern contemporary designs going together with the traditions and history of southern Spain.
The interior design works of this project, as is usually done on projects for One Shot, uses a great amount of materials in order to reach the concept created for the design. This concept comes through a turn over Sevillian tradition given by the former Palace and its restoration as contemporary hotel, with the characteristic design that identifies One Shot.
The former Palace determines the use of some materials: the wood, present on the coffered ceilings and window frames, gives a traditional appearance that determines the use of ceramic tiles, marble and other traditional materials on the bathroom design.
The use of these materials works with the contemporary design of the elements, combining both styles through the design of the bathroom furniture and the style of the fittings.
An important part of the atmosphere of the project is the wood flooring, especially in the guestrooms. The flooring needed to combine with the coffered ceilings and wooden window frames, giving the durability, color and design required by the project. The same wood had to fit with the style of the corridors: it had to create a continuous design with the guestrooms, give a frame to the carpet designed by the studio and appear again in the landings until meeting the marble finishing.
