WALDORF ASTORIA CHOOSES NAVELLO WINDOWS Italian windows for the most luxurious hotel in Jerusalem

Opened in spring 2014, the new Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem was one of the largest and most prestigious sites of the Middle East. In the heart of the Israeli capital, the project of this luxurious 5-star hotel, run by the Hilton chain, has recovered the historic seat of Arabic Palace Hotel, a construction made in 1929 that merged gothic architecture in Ottoman influences.

Just the restoration of the arches and arabesques of the original structure has required special attention and the best skills at an international level. For a recovery that could combine style and sustainability, the architects of Atelier Feigin, curators of the project, have trusted, among others, the experience of Navello, historical producer of wooden windows. For Waldorf Astoria, Navello realized, entirely tailored, 900 windows, 300 sliding windows and 50 shutters, all in oak stained walnut. About 200 arched windows, placed largely in the main facade of which they constitute the distinguishing feature. The windows, all with low-emission insulating glazing (33.1/12/33.1), belong to the line Novecento, a model with high energy performance and the high degree of customization that is made using only natural materials, water- based paints and glues free of harmful substances.

The hotel and its history Ten floors of luxury a few minutes from the Jaffa Gate, entrance to the old town, the Waldorf Astoria occupies a total area of 40,000 square meters. Its 230 rooms are 50% larger than the average of the other large hotels in Israel. To the main body which recovers the structure of the Palace Hotel (built in the late '20s by Haj Amin al- Husseini, Muftì of Jerusalem), the architects connected another overhead building that stands on the streets of the city center and houses, in addition to the rooms, two SPA with pools and saunas, a gym and two restaurants.

The property belongs to the family of Canadian manufacturers Reichmann which commissioned the renovation project to the study Feigin Architects of Ramat-Gan, near Tel Aviv. With the reopening, the Waldorf Astoria joins, with King David and the American Colony, the most prestigious hotels in Jerusalem.
