The 100 year old Italian Pasticceria brand plans their first business expansion outside of Italy. With the main dining space suspended in the atrium within one of the top scale shopping mall complex in Hong Kong, the design took inspiration from Italian architecture and streetscape, intended to create a high end, open air and photogenic restaurant.
The challenge was for the design to integrate naturally with the mall’s richly decorated interior, while a strong individual brand presence can be identified visually. The design proposal to create an alfresco high tea area helped the client to convince the mall to lease the very much sought after atrium space for the brand.
Key features include the bespoke design and manufacture of the purple marble patterns fibre-glass wall deco panels, bringing an instantly memorable identity. Precisely formed electroplated curvilinear steel structures bring reference to majestic Italian cathedrals interiors. Custom designed vintage looking outdoor lamp fixturesreminiscing old European cobblestone paved streets, carrying the sense of romanticism within the spaces, delightful to the eye and through the lenses of the camera.
