The project was initiated in a great era of urbanization in China. The city of Zhengzhou, a Chinese major mainland city is in the center of the national movement. The project site is located off the city center, with less cultural background compared to other city projects and is lack of highlights. The client intended to create an urban experience for the people in this region, which was at the margin of the city expansion. Accompanying the growth of the client’s real estate company, they were eager to bring up the enterprise image to the public, which fell on the architectural design of the Beijin complex project.

The project is designed with strong sculptural element, integrating the two office towers and commercial podium with streamlines, making the site an Op Art design work which differentiates itself with others. Taking the advantage of the planning regulation, while maintaining the roof line at the maximum height of 100m, the curtain wall system extend more than 30 meters to create a unique skyline to inspire the homogenous city scape. The continuum of the lines starts from the roof top and falls along with the body of the towers, and eventually finish by wrapping around the commercial podium. The movement of the geometries were materialized by these giant cantilevered aluminum fins, which ranged between 1 to 3 meters. The fins only exist in west and east façade that also contributed to the sun-shading and thermal performance of the building.

This design also embodies amphibianArc’s 3D calligraphy design concept, which is the embedded design philosophy originate from an ancient form of Chinese art.

The financial and cultural success of the project has been proved by increased revenues and up-rising real estate prices since its grand opening in the mid-2014. The iconic design has created a substantial value to the client’s branding. Later serve as the headquarters of the client, Henan Hanhai Development, the design has made an intriguing statement for the profile of the aggressive company. Distinguished them from thousands of other commercial developers surfing in the great wave of the Chinese economic, an unique and imposing image of company was established by implementing the cutting-edge design approach.
