For this apartment, the client requested a design to highlight his art pieces collection and design items, made mainly of pieces by Brazilian contemporary artists. 

With this goal in mind, our design strategy seeks to reorganize the spaces in a manner that its own architecture features would articulate its expositive functionality. Therefore, our proposal kept these features, such as the concrete and cement materiality of the ceiling, floor and pillar, and focused on the spatial organization, color pallet and joinery design.  

The first move was to expand the living room demolishing the second bedroom wall, integrating it to the social part of the apartment. After expanding the living room, we divided the spaces with a two sides couch to accommodate the piano and TV rooms keeping it an open space without any visual obstruction. Also, to support the TV we designed a L shaped joinery panel, bending its join into an arch shape to perfectly accommodate the armchair designed by Guilherme Wentz and one of the paintings of the client’s collection. 

For the windows wall that has an open view to Sao Paulo’s skyline, we designed a bench to work as a bey window bringing the user closer to the view, to provide additional seating, and to work as side table connecting both sides of the room. In addition to that, the window wall was painted in a grey shade close to the windows frames in a purpose to take the attention of the frames to insure focus on the painting by Leandro Junior and the city skyline.

 The same strategy described above was applied in the bedroom design. There the curved panel from the living room became the bedroom headboard, which was extended all the way to the workstation, also pained in grey, following the tone of the wall and window frames.  

 In conclusion, our approach to develop any project of interior design or architecture, that was also applied on this project, is to carefully analyze its existent condition and design ideas and solutions to highlight is best features to maintain its original identity and adapt it to the new use requested by our clients.
