The interior design project for an apartment located at the junction of two important avenues in São Paulo – Paulista and Consolação – aimed to create a home for a young single man of the advertising and cinema area.

With a dynamic lifestyle and a lover of visual arts and music, the resident sought a laid-back space to relax and gather family and friends.

The proposal was to unite the client's style with the context of the place in which the apartment is located: the Anchieta Building, listed by CONPRESP (the heritage council of São Paulo) as one of the city's architectural heritage. Designed and built in 1941 by MMM Roberto, a renowned architectural office based in Rio de Janeiro, it is considered one of the city’s landmark of Brazilian Modern Architecture.

The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling frames made it possible to provide the apartment with a loft atmosphere.

In order to reveal the construction method of the period, the walls and structure were “peeled off”, exposing structural elements such as concrete and walls made of solid clay brick. In addition, electrical and lighting fixtures follow the same concept of being exposed. The furniture was designed using raw iron profiles and reclaimed wood, and some pieces with a vintage style were found in antique stores.

The decor features the resident's great passions: his bicycles, street art, old cameras and elements that show his great appreciation for family and friends.

The lighting project, developed together with the lighting firm Estúdio da Casa, uses indirect lighting, such as the iron pendant lamp in the Living Room, designed by architect Cecilia Horner Hoe, founding partner of Hoearquitetura office; direct lighting (projectors and LED lamps installed directly on steel profiles) and scenic lighting, such as the bunch of copper filament pendant lamps, which provide a cozy light.

The result is a modern apartment full of character, with a spacious and integrated ambience.
