Rosa M cocktail bar is located in the center of the French concession in Shanghai. It is a two-floor building, with a long narrow east-west layout. The principal M, is quite young, but very independent. "Rosa" is about the imagine in her mind : like roses, romantic, pure, the most critical, be cool!

The design want to include all her desire in a simple way.

The design starts with the understanding of the functions of a cocktail bar. Seat, parlor , bar, office, equipment eat...are regarded as different abstract geometry, which are put into two-layers of cubic construction. Each box links together with a steel stairs.

Further, the design is an attempt to comb the relationship between the space and furniture. The furniture as add-on practice is the only possibility? Analogy in city and architecture, architecture and space, the furniture shall be as a set of independent component elements involved in the overall shape of space atmosphere. Each set of tables and chairs are abstracted regarded as individual geometry, arranged vertical and horizontal directions in the seat area.

The design of the materials is a progress to strength the expression of the abstract geometry. Tables and walls use metal shell in opposite color. It follows a dramatic contrast.

M is satisfied with the design. Forest of steel tube is like a forest of abstract. Steel frame is waiting for wine and coffee filled ,like a museum. Slope roof under the piece of sky reminded her of fuzzy but memories as a child.
