Project Year:2018

Hotel Clark is perfectly situated on Adam Clark Square,a World Heritage Site, right next to the famous Chain Bridge in downtown Budapest. The square is the heart of Hungary, the entryway to Buda Castle and one of the capital’s most emblematic public spaces at the same time.
The design of the conservative but iconic hotel follows the curved shape of the land, offering a unique view of the picturesque Royal Palace, the Chain Bridge, and the quay of Pest - while its grandiose public spaces evoke the world of historical grand hotels, creating a balance between classical values and modern design.
The architect designer - Anthony Gall– had to implement unique architectural solutions to build the 86-room hotel onto such a small plot of land. There are no parallel or perpendicular walls in the hotel, each starts from a common origin.
A main point was to create a visual connection between the interior parts of the building and the spectacular surrounding of the hotel so guests can see Adam Clark Square and a part of the Chain Bridge, even standing in the lobby.
The interior design of Hotel Clark was completed by Bara Design Studio.
In the lobby copper elements and the colour of ‘American walnut’ counterbalance the grey plastering of the walls and the black mosaic floor. The exclusive boutique hotel atmosphere was created with the use of various upholstery fabrics and carpets of different colours and patterns. Unique sculptures and custom-designed chandeliers also enhance the boutique style.
The hotel logo, the character of the rooms and the façade are all determined by the lion graphics, reflecting on the stone lions of the nearby Chain Bridge. The figure appears at several parts of the building, starting from the railing of the entrance gate, through the carpet and wallpaper patterns to the unique tiles in the bathrooms produced by Ivanka Concrete.
Hotel Clark offers 86 exquisite rooms in four different categories. Most of the rooms have a breath-taking panorama to the Chain Bridge, the River Danube. Some of them also feature a private terrace and a panoramic bathtub standing in the room. All of the rooms are equipped with design furnishings and lighting which further emphasize the hotel’s boutique nature. The masculine colours – grey, walnut, dark blue - and the lion graphicof the wallpaper behind the queen size bed and tiles of the bathroom all underline the ‘adults only’ policy of the hotel.
