An object of modern architecture, which became part of the transformation of the industrial area around the former ancient gas-holder in St. Petersburg (Russia). This Pavilion serves as a transition hall (with a total capacity of up to 300 people) between two towers, now it is used as a multimedia gallery and public space.

In the process of designing the pavilion, the task was to quickly fit the wide-span vaulted structure into a rectangular place with a specific architecture. This construction connects the domed roof and arched vertical walls along the perimeter. The shape of the eight-domed dome allows a combination of spherical and rectangular geometry of the structure.

This approach to construction allows to transfer the architectural complexity of the object to the area of ​​the machine-building for manufacture of the main units – frame and cover. It is made on CNC machines, in this way only simple construction tools are needed during construction. Сombination of relatively massive LVL and steel connectors was used for monumentality and constructive expressiveness. The weight of one connector is 40 kg, the total weight of the structure is 9 tons.

The Octo Pavilion is capable of withstanding the extreme snow load of the northern region, which is the weight of two tanks for the area. The structural scheme was developed at various sites, where the supporting system, in addition to its main purpose, also creates the architectural appearance of the construction.
