Location:Alella, Spain
Project Year:2014
Category:Housing
Near of the gully of Alella, a new housing building continues the urban alignment of houses. The building dignifies the existent typology without giving up a modern identity.
The project allows the opportunity of opening a passage between two streets at very differentlevels, instrumenting it with a small square that highlights in a zone where the car still is protagonist.
The parcel is the last of an island of housing, of what occupies the maximum volume to generate a pitched roof that camouflages with the surroundings. The old existing stone wall of the ancient parcelis preserved and incorporated to the new building.
The building completes the row housing of Canonge Street and opens a new façade to the new passage between this street and the new square at the upper level. The square is a space paved with brick and press earth with a plantation of mulberry trees.
The topographical arrangement of the project allowsdirect access from the streetto the three housingunits. The unitat lower level(63,-m²) of the street has two rooms and crosses the building to have ventilation crossed through a playground garden. From intermediate level, one can access to the two symmetrical units of a single bedroom (50.-m²).
The materiality of the building looks for the contrast with the surroundings. The envelope uses the system ofventilated façade of fibro cement color plates that continue from roof to façades giving the uniformity missingin the neighboring buildings.
