华盛顿海滨小屋的翻新奇迹

Located on Camano Island, Washington the Utsaldy Road Remodel is the remodel of an existing waterfront cabin that was built in the 1970’s.

Working within the existing footprint the original structure was gutted and the floor plan was total reworked.  Because the best veiews were from the second level the we moved the primary living spaces to the second level (Kitchen,dining,living room) and placed the bedrooms on the lower level.

We also opened up the interior space by placing a new steel fabricated satir in the center of the house and added a 2 story wall of glass in the stair hall.  To enhance the the ability to allow light to infliltrate the lower levels we design a glass bridge that links the kitchen dining area to the living room on the view side of the house.

The original roof structure was keptin placean refinshed with a dark stain.

A new  2 story deck was added to the view side of the house allowing acces to outdoor living from the living room above and the master bedroom below.

The lower level deck is hung off the support structure with steel tie rods so it would not interfere with the existing  in place septic system. Health department regulations say that it is not allowed to place structural supports in the septic field.
