Category:Private Houses
The project refers to the re-qualification and remodeling of a building that was in ruins, for a holiday dwelling.
It is located in one of the most interesting areas of Algarve - the Ria Formosa Natural Park, which is classified as an Ecological Reserve.
The original building, with only 1 floor and 174 m2 of surface, was built in the 40's It was originally a rural dwelling, and was later used by the former owners as a restaurant.
The concept of the intervention is based on the use of the existing volume and its relationship with the sky through the use of the cover as a living space and a skylight that stimulates a new profile of this volume with the horizon.
Using the facades of the existing building, a small outdoor patio was created, on the west side, serving as an antechamber and connection to the flat roof of the building.
On the flat cover, a cubic-shaped skyline, entirely in opal glass (white) with a sliding structure of wood white painted, has been introduced. This mobile structure controls the sunlight and thermal radiation entering through the skyline, allowing the enjoyment of a shaded area on the terrace of the house, which will be used as outdoor living space and solarium. The same sliding system was used on the facade of the main living room with a wooden panel of great dimensions that closes the glass facade of the room.
