Dos Manos 餐厅设计丨西班牙巴塞罗那丨Liat Eliav design studio

Liat Eliav design studio knew that as a restaurant that is going to become a chain, it was important to build a colour and material palette for Dos Manos Restaurant that can be replicated for future branches and be recognizable by the design language.

A new fusion restaurant recently opened on Torrent de l’Olla Street in García neighbourhood, Barcelona. The space that covers 50 square meters was challenging in terms of planning since its layout is long and narrow, without windows and has only one facade to the street.

The design goal of the studio was to create an inviting space that could be felt from the street. The restaurant front which is 180 cm wide is the only way to communicate with the street and to give a hint of what is happening inside. To create the possibility of inviting passers-by inside, a facade with a minimal iron profiling was installed. The facade consists of the front door and a guillotine window. The purpose of the window was to create a sitting area that connects with the street and allows sitting on both sides or to stand and drink a glass of beer from the street side.

A micro cement floor was chosen to form a bright base that would correspond with the atmosphere of the restaurant where there are motifs from the industrial world. An open stainless steel kitchen that allows to see the cooks in action and smell the aromas of the food. The green motif is repeated in the cladding tiles and also in the terrazzo tiles that cover the bar and also flow into the micro cement floor in a shape that rounds in one corner, like the surface of the bar.

The same wall tiles also covering the floating tables built on site to maximize seating and create unique tables for the restaurant. The bench built on site is also covered with glazed tiles that give them a clean and elegant look while its structure is made of red bricks purchased at a hardware store. The tension created between the raw material and the high-end material are the ones that create the design value of the place.
