The KØGE station is the transportation hub and hotspot of the entire Copenhagen area. It is located at a unique intersection and is the hub of high-speed trains, local trains and highways. Our design team DISSING + WEITLING Architecture and COBE, COWI has created a distinctive landmark for green transportation in the Copenhagen Capital Region. The main task of the design is to combine the busiest highways in Denmark with the existing Copenhagen train lines and the planned high-speed trains. The bridge will be the new gateway to Copenhagen, with 90,000 people passing through the area every day and expected 8,000 passengers per day.

Large staircase as sitting area are located at the two ends of bridge. People can look out through the huge glass window and enjoy the beautiful landscape. The west side of bridge is parking lot and forest. To the east, there is the seaside villa holiday cottage and Køge Bay. . If you see the interior of

Station as a warm oak cave. Well, it is not the only experience that people could get. Because there is big piece of horizontal glass wall open up to the north side of the cave, which provides the panoramic view of the street. From there, you can look at the busy shuttle cars and trains everyday.

From inside,

the streamlined shape of wood integrates the roof, wall and seat, and oak strips and long articulated luminaires guide the pedestrian's view to walk through the bridge. From outside, the cover layer of the station is corrugated perforated material, while the LED on the outer skin can display some driving data for drivers.

From top view, the bridge is a gentle S shape, which provides visitors with a special walking experience. The entire bridge is slightly tilted in the east-west direction along the landscape, visually weakening the scale difference between the bridge and the surrounding residential area.
