Since 2000, the Serpentine Gallery has selected internationally renowned architects each year to build a summer pavilion in the lush Kensington Gardens.
从2000年开始,蛇形画廊每年都会挑选国际知名的建筑师在郁郁葱葱的肯辛顿花园中建造一个夏季凉亭。
The 2016 Serpentine gazebo was designed and built by big, named after "unimpressed walls", and is a tent-like space made entirely of modular frame elements.
2016年的蛇形凉亭由BIG设计建造,以“未压缩的墙壁”命名,是一个完全由模块化框架元素构成的类似帐篷的空间。
The design inspiration is from the most basic architectural element-the brick wall. The architects hope to reflect the compatibility of the concept of "opposition" in the design, that is “ a structure that is free-form yet rigorous, modular yet sculptural, both transparent and opaque, both box and blob .”
设计灵感来自于最基本的建筑学元素——砖墙,建筑师们希望可以在设计中体现“对立”概念的兼容性,“自由形态与严谨尺度并不冲突,结构中模块化与雕塑感可以并存,透明与否不是一个绝对概念,是一个由方形盒子组成的曲面空间”。
The walls of the building are different from the common clay or stone, and are stacked by the rectangular frame made of glass fiber. The traditional vertical wall concept is broken by the constantly offset angle.
建筑的墙壁区别于常见的粘土或是石块,由玻璃纤维制作的方型框架堆砌而成,借由不断偏移的角度打破传统的垂直墙概念。
The basic rectangular structure is extruded and bent to constitute a wavy appearance.
基础的矩形结构通过挤压弯曲组合,形成波浪状的外观形式。
The dynamic façade acts on the interior space at the same time. The opened walls to transform the lines into surfaces, creating a complex three-dimensional space.
动态的外立面同时作用于内部空间,拉开的墙壁将线条转化为表面,创造出一个复杂的三维空间。
The two curved walls forming the internal S-shaped path, together with the uncompleted walls, present a canyon-shaped cavity structure, similar to the "zipper" principle.
形成内部S形路径的两个弯曲壁,与未被压缩的墙壁共同呈现出一个峡谷形空腔结构,形似“拉锁”原理。
Sunlight penetrates the interior space through the rectangular frame and the gap created by overlapping and intersecting. Use of opening material elements makes the internal and external relations constantly change.
阳光通过矩形框架以及重叠相交所产生的缝隙进入内部空间,开放性材料元素的运用使内外部关系不断变化。
The wood texture on the floor material of the serpentine exhibition hall is gradually clear in the sunlight, and the glass fiber material on the facade gives the space gloss and texture.
蛇形展厅内部地板材质上的木质纹理在阳光的照射下逐渐清晰,立面的玻璃纤维材料赋予空间光泽度与肌理感。
People walk inside the pavilion or stop outside to form an interactive experience with the building itself. The visual subject in the grid changes constantly, and the light and shadow effects try to change the light.
人们在蛇形展馆内部行走或在外部驻足,与建筑本身形成互动体验,方格内的视觉主体不断变化,光影效果也随光线而改变。
From the north-south direction of the building, it is visually a complete rectangle, while the east-west direction is an undulating sculpture. But looking from the north to the south toward the unzipped wall, the building disappeared under the influence of materials and light.
从建筑的南北向看视觉上各为一个完整的矩形,东西向则是一个呈起伏轮廓的雕塑。但从南北向看向Unzipped Wall,在材料和光线的作用下,建筑近乎消失。
In the end, the structural form of the unzipped wall was basically in line with the architect's original conception of the design. The building changed between visible and invisible. The straight lines formed the curved surface and the modules were stacked into a sculpture space. The British newspaper The Guardian called it the “ pyramid for the Minecraft generation”.
最终展现Unzipped Wall的结构形态基本符合建筑师最初对于设计的构想,建筑在可见和不可见间之间变换,直线组成了曲面,模块堆砌出雕塑空间,英国报纸《卫报》称其为“Minecraft一代的金字塔”。
