       Designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1996, the Stone Street Historic District comprises some of the oldest paved streets in Manhattan. MNLA’s restoration work there coincided with a concerted effort by the local business improvement district to revive the street as a food and beverage destination.

         Materials and details from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries are adapted to contemporary conditions to give the street an appropriate character, including the reinstallation of more than 23,000 granite paving blocks and lighting that evokes gas lamps.
