View Gallery Embedding a sense of drama, Doria Apartment is efficiently planned to provide the stability needed for a young family, with overlays of a saturated tone and palette. Studio Prineas works within the existing constraints to propose a distinctly animated series of spaces that match the vivacity of its owners whilst carving an extension of their identity.Located within an existing 1990s apartment building, Doria Apartment is transformed and given a new lease on life. Needing to maintain the outer limits of the residence, the interior is reconfigured and opened up to allow for ease of flow and to create an increased sense of space for the young family. To integrate flexibility into the planning, the existing form is made to feel more spatially dynamic to accommodate anticipated future changes. Like any home, self-expression is key to feeling connected with your space and as though it is place of rest and recharge. Therefore, Studio Prineas draws from a palette of deep and cinematic tones, encouraging an interplay with light to further enhance its own energy.

Setting the scene from the outset, the entry experience is open, allowing for a greater sense of space to mark the transition into the apartment. Following this theme into the kitchen, the joinery also integrates key structural elements to alleviate the need for walls between spaces. An additional opening within the kitchen introduces more natural light, allowing for a better sense of connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape beyond. Although the main structural and service elements within the apartment remain in place for cost efficiency, by proposing both alternative planning and a series of striking finishes throughout, the home takes on its own personality.Wanting to overlay a sense of joy and unexpectedness within the everyday household rituals, a focus on quality and elevated detailing and finishes creates a foundational shell for the many moving parts that populate the rooms. A modular design is key to considering family life, whilst the use of colour and deep red tones add warmth and a sense of anticipation. Combining the familiar timber textures with stainless steel and terracotta-coloured faces, the kitchen sits centrally as a symbol of togetherness and connection.
