The Essentialist Antica Occasional Table View Gallery Sculpting by hand from timeless marble and onyx slabs, The Essentialist crafts capsule collections and bespoke pieces that balance light, geometry, texture and colour. From its interior design studio in Sydney, The Essentialist works with exquisite and rare natural stones sourced from the depths of Italian and Greek quarries.Approaching design with a sense of abundance, quality and longevity, The Essentialist places emphasis on producing timeless, handcrafted pieces that are intentional and eternal. Taking inspiration from the work of renowned female designers in the mid 60s and 70s such as Eileen Gray, Zaha Hadid and Charlotte Periand, as well as the art and design theories of Kenya Hara and John Berger, the motivation behind the studio is crafting functional pieces utilising raw materials that are undefined by time.

Informed by their respective roots in the fashion industry, property development and psychology industries, the duo found common ground in a mutual pursuit of timeless design and creative production. Conceived over long conversations, The Essentialist grew from the pair’s ambition to create an offering that felt generous and abundant, without ever compromising on quality. Obsessed with creating accessibility to production methods like carving in solid stone to craft pieces that quite literally last forever, The Essentialist relies on the incredible materials and intergenerational stonemasons abroad to produce its collections.The Essentialist is inspired by the vitality and heightened state of awareness one seeks from explorations beyond the everyday, moments of clarity that lay only outside your comfort zone. Motivated by worldly pursuits – whether that be to hunting quarries and textile markets in Italy or immersing oneself in an unapologetically remote corner of the world – it’s the transformative power of travel that is rooted in everything the brand pursues.
