View Gallery The Walton by architecture firm Warren and Mahoney and residential developer Carpe is a respectful expression of the new Kew – an inner eastern suburb of Melbourne – inspired by ideas of heritage and tradition. On a leafy, elevated site with views towards the Dandenong Ranges, The Walton presents a luxury collection of 27 individually designed suite apartments that juxtapose contemporary living with the legacy of the local neighbourhood. The development will occupy the corner of some of Kew’s most sought-after streets and is surrounded by a host of heritage-listed family homes and properties.

View Gallery Preserving and attributing this history was a key factor and responsibility of Warren and Mahoney, with the resulting design gracefully amalgamating old and new through a modern yet familiar material palette. The fa.ade, shrouded in stone in an interpretative nod to some of Kew’s landmark buildings, aims to retain the street’s overall presence. The elegant exterior also serves as an indication of what’s to be expected inside the building. The intentionally oversized two- and three -bedroom apartments are luxuriously appointed, and each is unique in their use of materials to offer potential buyers a completely distinctive residence. Also designing the interiors, Warren and Mahoney directed the flow of living towards its views of the Dandenong Ranges and, in the case of some apartments, a bend in the Yarra River and the adjacent nature belt. Residents on the floors above ground can experience their views from generous terraces, while those living on the ground floor below can access their apartments via street front entrances and expansive gardens.

The Walton breathes a calm sophistication. Through its grand configuration of space and its humble presence on the popular street, the project celebrates Kew for what it was and what it is today.
