很早就对漆器有所耳闻 ,山西孩子
从小都会受到古建、墓葬、古玩、大宅院的文化影响。对回收的大院家具、
古代的银饰、大户人家的竹编器、漆器,略懂一二。从美院毕业后,开始
从事漆艺行业,发觉普及、传播任务更是任重道远!因此,萌生了创作
一些具有“可读性”的漆艺品,而非一成不变的工艺品。这样,普通人也就有了很多兴趣和机会去接触漆器。
As a person who was born in the 1990s, Diane has heard of lacquer works from an early time, because most of people born in Shanxi Province are influenced by the culture of ancient buildings, tombs, antiques and big houses of ancient times, and they know something about the recycled furniture of the big houses, the silver ornaments of the ancient times, as well as the bamboo weaving works and lacquer works in the wealthy and influential families. After graduating from the academy of fine arts, she started to be occupied in the field of lacquer work art and found that the popularization and transmission of lacquer works remain to be a daunting task. As a result, she conceives the idea of creating some lacquer works which could be comprehended by the modern people. In this way, the ordinary people would have more interest in and more opportunity to get in touch with the lacquer works.

作品《對白》很直观,一根飘带的状态。
从永乐宫的壁画中得到灵感,创作了这组形态。正如西方人喜欢创作衣服褶,东方人更钟爱“意”的表达,所以我希望这根带子,轻盈、婉转,最好能飘在墙上,为空间增加一份诗意气息。
The work Dialogue is a direct and vivid one, creating the state of one piece of flying ribbon. The work is inspired by the mural paintings in Yongle Temple and with that inspiration, the author created this set of forms. Just as the westerners like creating clothes with folds, people in the east prefer the expression of their thoughts in freehand works. Therefore, I hope this piece of ribbon would be able to fly on the surface of the wall with its light, graceful and mildly shape, adding certain degree of poetic breath to the space.

The threshold for learning craft of lacquer is very high and there is a relatively complete creating system among the people. And it is under such a condition that Diane manages to complete the work.

是完全无毒的,但会致敏。很多人以讹传讹,说大漆有毒。与化工涂料相比,大漆是100%

Allergy to Chinese lacquer. Chinese lacquer is made from the 100% natural juices extracted from the trees and the main content is “urushiol” which is completely non-toxic though, but will cause allergic reactions. For this reason, many people say that Chinese lacquer is toxic as they incorrectly relay the erroneous information. Compared with chemical coating materials, Chinese lacquer contains no formaldehyde or phenol in it at all. It brings nothing but certain degree of humidity. The following symptoms are those suffered by Diane and they are cured after a month without any medical treatment. This is the first time that Diane has suffered from allergy since she has taken a career in this field for three years.

漆农从树上采割下漆液,验漆师傅会用舌头辨别其质量。这种原始的方法是老一辈手艺人必备的技能。
The lacquer famers extract the lacquer liquid from the trees and then the lacquer examination works would distinguish the quality of the lacquer liquid with their mouth. This is a primitive method and a necessary skill which is mastered by the old generation of craftsmen.

天然大漆的包容性非常广,是非常好的媒介材料。技艺角度,它可以做到极致
的润泽、完美无暇、细腻无痕。性能角度,天然大漆是化工涂料不可取代的,耐水、抑菌、防腐、耐高温。
使用得当,始终如新。
好的漆器可以陪伴一辈子。
The inclusiveness of the raw Chinese lacquer is really broad and it is the best media material. From the artistic perspective, it is able to realize ultimate lubrication and it is flawless, smooth and exquisite. From the perspective of performance, the natural Chinese lacquer is a type of medical coating material which could never be replaced. It is water-fast, anti-bacteria, antiseptic and heat-resistant. If it is used properly, the material would remain to be new for a life time. A good lacquer work can accompany you for a life time.

Diane’s work Dialogue draws the attention of many foreign people. Compared with the traditional lacquer technique and lacquer containers in China, people are more concerned about the spiritual sentiment and this perception causes the sympathy of more people and brings more communication. Diane hopes that the new generation of young people would like to spend more time to gain the knowledge of the Chinese lacquer technique so that this Chinese technique will be passed down and transmitted from generation to generation.
