Background
The project is located in the central area of Guanshanhu District, Guiyang City. It is an urban green space covering an area of about 88,000 square meters, surrounded by high-rise buildings. It is difficult to connect the city with the mountain city, but you can still feel it when you walk in it. The large-scale slope and small terrace, and the rolling hills not far from the edge of the city are enough to prove its identity as a mountain city.

In the past 20 years, the city has expanded rapidly, and the characteristics of the site have gradually been erased, and the original scenery of the land has no longer existed. And the traditional city planning of a few verticals, it is difficult to provide people with a comfortable outdoor space. Wide trunk roads and motor vehicle noise can only bring anxiety and anxiety to pedestrians. In response to the design of urban public space in this context, we must first respond to the site context and consider pedestrian friendship and space comfort.

The project is a public green space to be developed, with a subway and an underground river passing through it. The local government hopes to use the drive of rail transit to implant retail space in green space space to give land more possibilities. How to respond to the current situation of the site and balance the attributes of public green space and commercial space is the focus of the project.

Respond to urban changes with natural art

The mountains and rivers are the beautiful scenery of the city, but the rivers that once passed through the site are buried into the underground and become underdrain, and the terrain is gradually disappearing. It is difficult for people to experience the scene of walking across the mountains and streams in the city, and it is rare to stand on the high and low places to form a “look up – look down” scene. It is most appropriate to reshape the context of the site with the form language of nature. Elements such as flowing lines, undulating or concave terrain, high and low covered Bridges, and spiraling terraces are used to reconstruct the original landscape of the land.

Park’s publicity VS Retail business attributes

Although the commercial space is open to anyone, its nature is consumer space, and publicity will be limited by operation. The park should be non-profit. Even if there is a small operating space, it is a supporting facility, not for the purpose of profit. Therefore, neither the park nor the retail space can rely on each other. They should give full play to their respective spatial advantages in order to promote each other. The circulation lines of the park and the retail are independent of each other, but the two circulation lines are connected together at the core nodes, and can be switched freely at the specific nodes.

Unified natural language

Although the upper and lower spaces are relatively independent, the styling language based on the form of nature from the park to the underground layer, and the overall design language is highly unified. In the planning stage, the landscape architect and the architect worked closely together to repeatedly consider the size of the building opening and the shape of the cornice to ensure that the local shape fits into the overall shape of the park. The two -layer space is visually integrated. This unity makes the sight between up and down more coherent without being disturbed by the extra shape.

Natural open space
There are a large number of housing, schools and office buildings around the project. The park provides a opportunity for surrounding residents to experience nature in a busy city. Except for several specific theme spaces, the park does not design dense specific functions. Too concrete functions limit the user’s imagination of the space. More is to create natural and open spaces through landscape elements such as green plants, open grasslands, slopes, and bridges, waiting for users to explore and find their own comfortable places.

We weaken the expression of functional moving lines, but use natural forms, twists and turns, and make people walk in it without any purpose. Only in such places with non-established functions can people establish connections with the place, meet others, and truly relax.

The circular runway, sports field and facilities also provide fitness places for surrounding residents. Leave more space for the open space, these blank spaces are easy to add color spontaneously, because there is no functional restriction, and various social activities can be performed.

City stand
The spiral slopes set in the park are one of the important nodes connecting the park and retail, and it is also the landscape landmark of the park. People can climb up, look up at the city skyline, and overlook the greenery of the park. It can also meet here.

Landscape bridge
The raised bridge ensures the continuity of the park’s moving lines and avoids being interrupted by the moving lines of commercial entrances. At the same time, the elevated landscape stand provides a sight point overlooking the woods from above. The scenery seen from above is completely different from the experience on the ground, which also reflects the characteristics of the mountain city of the site.

Amphitheater
The identification of the entrance from the ground into the underground retail is particularly important. In order not to damage the overall sense of the park, no large signs or structures were set up in the entrance plaza. The main commercial entrance is designed as a stair stand space that can stay, forming a relationship between a stand and a theater with the square on the commercial floor, providing an opportunity for public performances, and pedestrians on the roadside are also attracted to the commercial street by the performance atmosphere.

Commercial atmosphere in the background
For parks or commercial spaces, only by returning to the essence of space can the energy of the site be fully released. The openness and natural attributes of the park are the most attractive to surrounding residents. Only free blocks and vibrant squares in the commercial street can make people gather here. The two functions should be complementary to each other.

总结 Conclusion
This is a project with a high degree of integration of landscape architecture. The landscape profession has been involved in the park from the planning stage. In addition to collisions with other Professions, it is also necessary to balance the requirements of the government departments and the operation team. This is the various relationships that the designer has to deal with, and of course the design relationship of the project itself. Parks and commercial space, only by strengthening their respective spatial attributes, nature and openness, can more fully activate the energy of the site and attract more people to join in it. From the scale of the site, we emphasize the overall form, which comes from the vast natural rhythm formed by the land for a long time. But in the human space scale, redundant forms should be avoided as much as possible, so as to experience the natural changes of the site.
