After years of working in silos, Kohler sought to bring its brand studio and account teams under one roof in an effort to increase collaboration and direct the company’s advertising and merchandising efforts worldwide. Gensler’s solution provides a strong, visible and enduring presence for the brand and resonates with the company’s passion for design and the natural world. The new 100,000-square-foot, LEED® Gold certified headquarters features a board-formed concrete base with large expanses of glass that simultaneously reveal the company’s creative culture and connect the campus landscape to the interior. “The Beacon,” a perforated, weathered steel volume that protrudes upward through the building’s base, glows gently and fulfills its namesake for the entire campus.
