Maruwa, a company that has evolved from a ceramic manufacturer which dealt with soil to a manufacturer of ceramics for electronic components, worked with Gensler Tokyo to design its new factory and R&D Center. The architecture and interior design were inspired by the concept of an “innovation mine,” which ties into the idea of unearthing new value through Maruwa’s cutting-edge manufacturing facilities. The theme extends to the facade, which is designed like a geological formation of a mine. Inside, the spacious hall is designed to serve as a multi-purpose space for events to cultivate innovation through workshops.愛知県からグローバルにシェアを展開するセラミック素材メーカー、MARUWAのR&D（研究開発）センター新築プロジェクト。土を扱う窯業からセラミック精密素材をつくるメーカーへ進化した企業であることから、R&Dセンターでは、新しい価値を「掘り起こす」ことと掛けてコンセプトを「Innovation Mine」とした。 鉱山のような外形に地層を表現する水平ルーバーから漏れる光が、まるでロードサイドに灯る灯篭となるようなイメージでデザインされた。 クライアントやパートナーと共に話し合い、ワークショップを通じてイノベーションを起こすという目的のもとホールはあえて面積を確保し、イベントなど多目的に使える空間とした。業務内容建築デザインインテリアデザイン受賞歴IES イルミネーションアワード2022 受賞The LIT デザインアワード™2021 受賞
