“A space that is alive; one that is unique and can define us.” This is what the client had in mind when they acquired a foreclosed music venue in downtown San Diego. The design team created a venue that is timeless, transcends genres, and attracts world-class acts. The design strategy focuses on authenticity through the curation of local artists and restraint by leveraging the great bones of the existing structure to create a canvas for innovation, art, and most importantly, music. Each space is woven together as the artists were directed to reinterpret the core concept, “inside the music box.”
