Qatargas, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas company, wanted for its Americas Liaison office a modern, international and distinct feel. Gensler’s design takes its cues from Qatar, and revolves around a sleek, curved bench, inspired by the fluid shape of desert sand dunes, which wraps around the walls of the reception area and serves as a unifying element that is lit by a circular light cove overhead. Constructed with locally sourced materials, the new space also features a prayer room and a majlis – a special place for formal and informal meetings – and ergonomic furniture. The bright office represents Qatari culture while portraying a forward-thinking energy company.
