Inspired by the concept of biophilia – that humans are bonded instinctively to nature – Riverbed’s new workplace builds around the presence of natural features like fresh air, daylight and water. A long, curving corridor inspired by the undulating bends of a river serves as the focal point; its expressive, organic shape supports a symbiotic mix of interactive technology and natural materials throughout. The result of this elemental concept is an open, daylit and dynamic space that maximizes visibility and encourages movement. Incorporating myriad sustainable principles, the office exemplifies the collective need to respect, protect and learn from nature – a belief system that guides Riverbed’s design strategy.
