Enlisted to design the first pilot development in the Qianhai New Development Zone in Shenzhen, Gensler worked to create a landmark mixed-use project to spur investment into the region while preserving its natural resources. Water and ecology, the driving planning principles behind the 470,000-square-meter development, link the urban site with seashore areas through the incorporation of corridors, bridges and pedestrian overpasses. Featuring innovative design, pedestrian oriented spaces, sustainable design elements, and green parks and waterways, and connected by two metro lines for convenient access, this premier mixed-use development represents a bold vision for the future development of Shenzhen and China.
