For its new Pune-based Offshore Development Center (ODC), Wipro challenged Gensler to create a world-class workplace experience with a design driven by the principles of activity-based work. Historically, ODCs across India and other global locations have prioritized low-cost design, tightly assembling linear rows of desks beneath suboptimal lighting, while deemphasizing employee satisfaction and wellbeing. Inside Wipro’s 600,000-square-foot space, the design team leveraged research from the latest Gensler Workplace Survey to create a progressive, high-performance workplace with a shifted focus on user experience and comfort. The thoughtfully planned Wipro workplace effectively breaks with the industry’s formulaic design to transform the workplace culture of ODCs.
