Brief Introduction
第二届中法文化论坛在法国里昂举行,《苏作天工 根植吴中》吴中苏作工艺非物质文化遗产艺术展览作为其中一个子项目 。9月末举行展览开幕仪式,场地需容纳两国贵宾百余人。
里昂市政厅提供其东侧大厅作为展览场地,室内空间南北向长度约为28米,东西向长度约为11米,总面积305平方米。里昂市政厅建于十七世纪,室内装饰繁复,并无可供展览的合适光环境。
The second sino-french culture forum is held in Lyon of France, and the exhibition of “Suzhou Traditional Craft Art” is one of its activities, which means to promote inmaterial craft art. In the end of sepertember, an opening ceremony would be held in the exhibition hall to accomadate about 100 peoples.
The City hall in Lyon provides us a entrance hall for free for exhibition. It is of near 28 meters from north to south and of 11meters from east to west, with an area of about 305 square meters. The interior decoration is of occidental baroque style with pleinty of details, which is not suitable for delicate exhibiton.

“苏作”
Suzhou Traditional Craft art
得太湖水滋养的苏州,风光秀美。苏州南部吴中区为吴国国都旧址(1200b.c.—473b.c.),是“苏作”、“苏工”的重要发源地之一。吴中区光福镇–“湖光山色、洞天福地”,中国历史文化名镇, “百工之乡”,工艺人才济济,50余名非物质文化遗产的代表性传承人在此延续着千年技艺。此次“苏作”展,涉及光福十二位工艺大师,六大艺术品项(玉雕、核雕、红木雕刻、佛雕、刺绣及缂丝),十八件工艺精品。展品尺寸不一,件件巧夺天工,在继承传统的基础上多有创新,多体现苏作“精、细、雅、洁”的精神。在每项工艺展示中,除器物雅玩之外,还将展示制作工具、材料、过程等。
Situated on the east bank of Lake Tai, Suzhou is well known not only for its beautiful natural landscape, and also for its traditional craft art. This exhibition presents 18 artworks from 12 craft masters in 6 domains: jade sculpture, olive nucleus sculpture, funiture, buddha sculpture, embroidry and k’ossu. Except for these ingenious objects, several kinds of craft work process, materials and tools would be showed in situ.

Design Concept
“人杰地灵”,文化艺术和其所在的地理环境有着不可分割的关系。中国东部平原上镶嵌着一颗晶莹剔透的明珠–太湖。三万六千顷烟波浩渺的太湖熏陶着文人雅兴,陶冶着吴人心性,锻造着工匠巧手。以太湖地理风貌为展览设计主题,让观者身临其境般的欣赏作品,即使有着不同的文化背景,也能快速领略苏州及其民艺的韵味。 中国艺术讲究“虽由人作,宛自天开”,一件作品的艺术水准由接近它所模拟的自然的程度决定。民艺、书画,园林,皆如此。叠山理水,是文人内心的外化,是自我文化态度的空间性确立,是风骨风范的全景呈现,意欲创造出另一个想象中的自然。将太湖水系映射在地面上,并提炼吴中人士唐寅山水国画中的山形,将其分散于展厅中,作为自然环境的点题—“湖光山色,洞天福地”。
Lake Tai located in the east plain of China, with a grand suface of water, which is the origin of inspiration of litterature, culture and art. Considering this relation between art and its natural sourrounding, the interpretation of natural landscape near Lake Tai is taken as the way of organizing the exhbition, which provide an “in situ” experience for the visitor to appreciate the craft art and to get a quick glimspe of local ambience. With a principle of imitating “The Nature”, the proximity to the Nature of an artwork determins its artistic level, including folk craft, painting, caligraphy, private garden, etc. Shaping the miniature of montains and water, is a reflection of the inner mind of intellectuals, a spatial interpretation of their cultural attitude, a panoramic representation of their character, an intention to create another imaginary world of utopia. So, the water suface around Lake Tai is mapped on the floor, and the montains, in the form of booth, from the drawings of the great inteletual Tang Ying who was from Wuzhong, are scattered in the exhibition hall. All of these are for the purpose of interpretating the local natural enviroment: blessed land with pictureque view of lake and mountain.

空间布局
Spatial Organization
进入展厅,右侧忽现一组 “太湖石假山” ,上贴展览文字及信息。 观者可绕行,亦可穿行其中,于游山玩水间开启艺术之旅。穿过假山洞口及园林墙洞,进入另一重艺术世界,观者如出入画里画外,意境甚美。围绕太湖散布各组群山,层峦叠嶂,光影微妙细腻。
起伏跌宕的情节变化在婉转流连的空间中渐次展开,空间由散布展厅中的山体巧妙分隔,既相互独立又情景相连。为展品量身定制的群山,展现匠人心境,亦是匠人与自然交往对话的载体。江南山水,以充满传统韵味又抽象现代的方式,被重新阐释,转译成另一重想象中的山水。
An asymetrical spatial orgasition like a miniature landscape is taken. In the right side of the hall, there is a group of “Rockey made of stones on from Lke Tai”, on which is th introduction and information of this exhibition. This is the start of an art adventure among the mountains and waters. Walking through the hole of the rockey or on the wall of garden, we will enter another art world. In this way, we are entering into and going out beautiful pictures. around the Lake Tai, are scattered several groups of mountains, layer after layer, with subtle effet between light and shadows. Changes of scenes are played gradually when we are wandering among the mountains. Space is separated and also connected by groups of mountains. The mountains specially manufactured for the exhibits, is an intpretation of the mentality of the craftmen, a carrier for the dialogue between them and the nature. The landscape in southeast china, in a contemporary and abstract way, is reinterpreted and transformed into another landscape in the imagination.

建筑材质
Architectural Materials
通过室内意象,陈设,色彩,材料等强化“苏作”形象,突出其传统文化属性。因不能碰触现有墙体及天花,工期紧迫且展期短暂,故选取环保的建造材料及轻便快速的建造方式 。
Through indoor space ambience, furnishings, colors, materials and others to present the image of “Suzhou craft art “, and to highlight its traditional cultural characteristics. Considering that the ceiling and walls could not be touched and construction period is quite short, therefore, the materials which are environmentally friendly, reversible and lightweight, with a way to be built easily and quickly are selected.
山形:PVC 板
19毫米厚pvc在工厂机器加工出各色山形,再由细木作工人加以拼接,在现场快速组装成一组组群山。白色pvc切割出一层又一层想象中的山水意象,自然的形态,又似云彩或者冰川,引人至另一重世界,极富超现实主义色彩 。
地面:粘性PVC打印
将太湖水系映射与地面,覆盖住原有国际象棋盘状的黑白铺地。间隔30厘米划以灰线表明行进方向,灰线在山体旁转折出山形,同时又划定出观赏区域。
Mountains: PVC board
PVC board of 19mm in thickness which could be machined in the factory into any shapes, and then assembled by carpenters in site rapidely into groups of mountains. These white pvc boards with natural shapes turning into imaginary mountains of layers after layers, also look like clouds or glaciers, intrduce us into another layer of world full of surrealism.
Ground: sticky pvc printing
The Taihu Lake water system mapped on the ground with stiky pvc printing material, covers the original black and white chess-plate-like floor. Basides, gray lines with a distance of 30 cm between each other indicates the direction of circulation. Near the mountain they turn around with the shape of mountains, and also defines the area for appreciation the exhibit.
