上海哥伦比亚圈老宅改造设计 / 旭可建筑

本项目所在街区在上海又称“外国弄堂”，是上海长宁区新华路211弄和329弄的一片高级住宅区，旧称哥伦比亚圈。原设计者为匈牙利建筑师邬达克。第一期建成于上世纪20年代。

The project is located in the street-block dubbed as “ the foreign lane of shanghai”. It is located between 211-lane and 329-lane of Xinhua road in Xuhui district. The area was called “ the Columbia circle” before and was built with different phases starting from the 20s of last century. The designer for the development is Hungarian architect Ladislav Hudec.

项目设计于邬达克职业生涯的黄金时期。他展示了高超的风格驾驭能力，在地块中他一共设计了13种不同的别墅风格。我们的基地位于新华路231号地块，设计之初为西班牙殖民地风格。哥伦比亚圈的建设并没有按设计完成。在近100年的历史中，剩余的土地被新型的多层社会住宅占据。形成了空间类型和社会阶层均相对混合的社区。而231地块别墅，也因在本世纪出曾经容纳了13户人家，空间结构已经发生的不可逆的改变。无论内外，都需要建筑师从当下的情况出发开始设计，而不能简单的恢复和保护。

The area is designed in the prime time of Hudec`s career. He demonstrated great ability of style emulation. In the area he designed 13 different styles for the villas in total. Our house, which is located in the No.231 plot, was designed and executed as Spanish colonial style. The execution of the design is not accomplished according to the plan. In the following almost 100 years, the left-over lands was gradually taken-over by multiple-story social housing projects. The current street-block is actually a mixed community in terms of spacial typologies and social classes. Our villa in the 231 plot was also irreversibly modified by the 13 families which once squeezed in at the beginning of the 21 century. The design requires precise engagement with the current situation, instead of simple restoration and preservation.

设计中楼梯间作为嵌入具体环境的空间装置，本身也是一个独立的小建筑：有自己的城市姿态，立面表情和材料做法。楼梯城市姿态各层不同：一层正面面对客厅打开接迎客人，入口处平面上的曲线处理将踏步甩到客厅地面上，如一卷地毯滚落于地。二层是私密区域，通过一个低于视高的开口挑拨一墙之隔的更衣间私密空间。三层进入屋顶下的公共空间，侧面采用开口随高度逐渐变大的实木屏风隔绝视线，保证三层卫生间的私密性。

In the design the main stair-case is regarded as a spacial installation to be inserted into a specific situation, it is an independent architecture with its own urban gesture, facade expression and materiality. The urban gesture of the staircase varies from floor to floor: on the ground floor it opens up to the living room with a few steps being thrown out to the ground; on the more private second floor the staircase flirts with the changing room space by the opening that is much lower than the view height; to the attic space under the roof, the openings on the wooden screen gradually increases its size with the height to ensure the privacy of the toilet next to it.

在功能的布置上，设计回应周边相对复杂的城市环境，通过打开屋顶的处理，将三层阁楼面对天空的潜在的公共性激发出来。三层阁楼层和一层地面层布置起居室，茶室等公共空间，而二层相对私密，布置卧室。阁楼打开一半，形成两个性格迥异的空间，一个低矮、温暖、木质的肉身空间，以及一个高耸、冷峻、白色抽象的精神空间。在白色的精神空间中，设计植入了跳动的木结构梁和柱，为原有老虎窗结构的一部分转译和再现，在分割上阳台的流线的同时，也给予空间重心。

In terms of the program allocation, in order to relate to the diverse urban environment, we tried to stimulate the potential publicity of the attic space by opening-up the roof. Most of the public programs: living room, dining room, tea room etc, are thus located in the ground floor and the attic space, while private-programs as the bedrooms are located in the 2nd floor, which is the mostly protected space from the views of the neighbors. Only half the attic is opened, which creates a juxtaposition of two very different spaces: one warm, low, worldly space wrapped with wood contrasts with the other cold, high, abstract white spiritual space. In the white space, we inserted a “dancing” wood structure to re-present and the re-interpreted the former attic window structure. This structure also marks the gravity point for the room and helps to separate the circulation to the balcony.
