融于景观的西雅图湖岸“美国住宅”/ Olson Kundig Architects

此住宅项目低调简约，房子坐落于华盛顿湖东岸树木繁茂的地方，这里也是首批美国当代艺术收藏中心之一。线性的住宅与树木层层结合，使得每个房间都能欣赏到水景。葡萄牙石灰石和染色红雪松材质柔化了混凝土和钢结构建筑的刚硬感，两者色调微妙的融于景观之中。旱生园艺植物屋顶也自然的隐于景观。建筑师利用场地的优势采用了地热和冷却系统。浅浅的屋檐覆盖着一整面长长的低矮立面，如传统的日本建筑一般悠然自得。

The design concept of this residence is that of understatement: the house defers to a wooded site on the east shore of Lake Washington and to one of the nation’s premier collections of modern American art. The house is a linear design that steps delicately among the trees while giving every room a view of the water. Portuguese limestone and stained red cedar soften the concrete and steel structure, and their subtle tones are an integral part of the landscape. Xeriscape planted roofs further integrate the house into its site, while a geothermal heating and cooling systems takes advantage of the site itself. Shallow-pitched eaves hover over the long, low façade like those of a traditional Japanese house.

位于建筑中心通高的画廊从钢材和木材组成的入口顶棚中延伸出来，大面的玻璃墙定格了湖景和巨大铜制裸体雕塑的剪影。穿过大厅是一个画廊从北面私人书房和主套房扩展出来。穿过宽敞的接待区，一个玻璃廊桥连接了位于建筑上部南侧开口的两层会客室。此房间尺度适应了收藏品的展示需求，自然光的设计更加柔和，以此保护了画作免于直射光的损害。建筑的生物舒适性也发挥的淋漓尽致，最具代表性的便是在日式花园内的玻璃浴室。建筑师将两个主要设计主题结合在一起：艺术品展示家和与自然和谐共处的住宅，两个主题互相渗透和谐统一。

A double-height gallery extends from the steel and wood entry canopy through the center of the house to a wall of glass that frames a view of the lake and silhouettes a massive bronze nude sculpture. Cutting across this hall is an extended gallery leading from an intimate study and master suite at the north end, through spacious reception areas to a glass bridge that connects to the upper level of a two-story guest house in a gulley to the south. The house was scaled to heighten the impact of the collection. Natural light is carefully balanced and the paintings are unobtrusively protected from direct sun. Creature comforts are also indulged–notably in the glass-enclosed shower that juts into a walled Japanese garden. The resulting design weaves the two principle design themes together —art into the home and house into nature—to create a continuous dialogue between them.
