Exhibition design of “HOMAGE TO Tadeusz KANTOR – The Dead Theater”. Tadeusz KANTOR is the late famous Polish vanguard artist. His works always represented [Death] such as his masterpiece“The Dead Class”(theatrical performance).

In displaying homage art pieces of KANTOR, I set some windows that can not judging which is outside or inside, and painted out all the things until 1.5m height from the floor by a halfstrength-gray. Appreciators are led to keep on crossing some kind of boundary in the space.

This gray is called “N3.5”. It is usually painted on a supporting materials in buildings. This gray kills any presence because it is neither too dark nor too light. It is nothing – reaching after mixing every colors. So that means “the color of death”. Then I made a pool of 1.5m depth by the gray of death which has never been the leading role.

Sitting and Appreciating pieces in this theater is like diving into mud of death with holding breath. I’d like you to think that the lower half of the theater is a desperate world so much. Consequently, you would feel an overwhelming-life with the repeat of breathing and diving on the interface of the overwhelming-death.
