Interior designer Jordan Carlyle and his husband Mario Margelist live in this East Hampton farmhouse. The house is located in East Hampton, a picturesque coastal town in Long Island, New York. Known for its stunning natural beauty, East Hampton has a rich history as a summer resort for the wealthy, dating back to the late 19th century. The town is surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and pristine beaches that provide a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The design brief was to transform a faded Georgian Colonial home into a peaceful and calming refuge for the couple. The goal was to preserve the charming character of the original house while modernizing the interior and creating a home that was both stylish and comfortable. Jordan Carlyle, has a special connection to the family room. He finds the morning light in the room makes it the perfect place to have his morning coffee and answer emails. He also loves the view of the garden from the room and the warm, inviting atmosphere it creates.

翻新过程中最大的挑战之一就是如何存续建筑特色的同时融入现代元素，而设计策略则是将如18世纪的入户门和松木地板以及具有300年历史的Bar Gris石材地面和原木梁结构进行保留，并置入新的装饰形式。

One of the biggest challenges during the renovation was finding a way to preserve the charm of the house while incorporating modern elements. The solution was to keep some of the original architectural features, such as the 18th-century front door and pine wood floors, and to complement them with new additions, like 300-year-old Bar Gris limestone flooring and reclaimed wood beams.

建筑最终呈现的是新旧的完美结合，传统与现代元素的和谐共存。内部陈设的家具和艺术品呼应了室内新的设计风格，彼此相得益彰，共同营造一种温馨宜人的家居氛围。对Jordan Carlyle和Mario Margelist来说，新家超出了他们的原先预期，并对建筑本身有了新的认识。

The house is filled with unique and stylish furnishings and artwork that perfectly complement the interior design. The final result of the renovation is a stunning marriage of old and new, where traditional and contemporary design elements coexist in harmony. The owners, Jordan Carlyle and Mario Margelist, were pleased with the final result of the renovation. The house has exceeded their expectations and serves as a haven for them to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
