The young power couple only wanted to buy a sofa from ATRA. In the end, they ended up with a completely new personalized interior, in which French modernism and American brutalism meet. Their loft in the heart of Manhattan, New York, has been transformed into a work of art.

ATRA is an architecture and design studio, founded by Alexander Díaz Andersson, based in Mexico City. They have a passion for modernism and futurism, which is also reflected in their furniture, sculptures and interiors. Andersson always works in a balanced way, seeking a balance between academic knowledge, practical experience and self-taught research. “Structured on the one hand, intuitive on the other”, with those words both his working method and his designs themselves can be described. The studio has an eye for art and grace, which translates into projects that always have a luxurious and unique appearance, such as this loft in Manhattan.

The young couple wanted an elegant space that felt very welcoming. The design studio therefore designed a living room that is suitable on the one hand as a space for a cocktail party, and on the other as a playroom for their future children. The custom-made furniture and lighting elements have atypical volumes and textures, making them feel both natural and futuristic.

茶几、边桌和壁灯是专门为这个项目设计的，名为“Teardrop Collection”。艺术设计的灵感来自法国现代主义和美国野兽派。整个公寓以艺术为主：家具本身就被认为是雕塑，房间里摆满了墨西哥新兴人才的艺术作品，以应业主的要求。在配色方面，使用了中性色调和黑色和铜的点缀。这给房间带来一种温暖的感觉。

The coffee table, side table and wall lamps were specially designed for this project, under the name “Teardrop collection”. The artistic designs were inspired by both French modernism and American brutalism. The entire apartment is dominated by art: the furniture itself is considered sculptures and the rooms are filled with works of art by emerging talents in Mexico, at the request of the owners. In terms of color palette, neutral tones and accents of black and copper were used. This gives the room a warm feeling.
