Environmental Design - Interior Design Specification - OCAD University [Toronto, ON, Canada]

The project indicates a conceptual workspace in a residential interior that is completed in groups of two. The inspiration comes from sunshine along the shore, therefore, waves of the ocean, water texture, and sunrise coloring the environment become the significant features.

Circles and semicircles of the window and ff&e are repetitive shapes that constantly reinforce the metaphor of sunrise, including the selections of coffee chairs and working chairs. The contrast of warm orangey color tone and clear bluey tone creates comfort working area and is not monotonous at the same time. The designer has also designed a felt ceiling sculpture that crosses the entire ceiling, facing toward the round window at the end of the wall, harmonizing the environment and helping with the acoustic control. A small coffee break area is settled aside from the round window, generating a balance between work and leisure.

For the working table, the designers have made a piece of custom furniture, the shape corresponding to the wave of the ocean, with accessible height for disabilities as well. When it is placed aligned with the wall, there are natural corners that become bookshelves.
