To design a shared office for social venture companies, we started designing with the concept of BIOPHILIA. ‘BIOPHILIA’, which can be directly translated as the noun ‘love of life’, can be understood as nature-friendly, water-friendly, etc. The 2010s Along with practical issues regarding the environment, alternatives to eco-friendly office spaces that go beyond free workspaces have emerged. The design concept for a space used by small-scale social enterprises that are just starting out, rather than a space for one large company, should form a consensus rather than emphasize specificity. ‘Nature’ and ‘eco-friendly’ materials will not only be relatable to everyone but will also provide a comfortable office environment.
The ways to propose a biophilic office are 1. Introducing direct natural elements such as trees and flowerpots into the space. 2. Provide designs that interpret elements of nature3. 4. Design proposals that consider the environment through methods such as recycling; 5. Use of natural materials such as wood and stone; 5. Introducing natural colors. In addition to the basic considerations when designing an office environment, such as natural lighting, efficient and comfortable work space, appropriately placed OA and bathroom, small conference rooms and large conference rooms of appropriate quantity and size, break space, and reasonable circulation, stress caused by work A biophilic office, which can not only reduce stress but also increase work improvement through creative thinking, can be said to be an inevitable topic considering the correlation between the complexity of modern people's work and mental health.
The 3rd and 4th floors, where social enterprises will move in, were previously designed with glass curtain walls, which has the advantage of daylighting, but considering that the ceiling height of offices is generally 2.8 m to 3.2 m, areas without ceilings are 2.5 m and ceiling heights are 2.5 m. The height of this area was very low at 2.2 m. Since it was a newly remodeled building, rather than demolishing everything inside and building a new one, we decided to minimize demolition waste by distinguishing between areas where the ceiling would be kept as is and areas where it would not. Therefore, the number and layout of shared offices for 2, 3, 6, 8, and 10 people were selected first, and the spatial layout of the 3rd and 4th floors was naturally decided. To maximize the view of the deck (3rd floor) or the sky (4th floor), which is landscaped with plants, beyond the transparent window seen through the entrance door, an exposed ceiling was designed, and a hot desk area and a hot desk area for one person were installed.
On the third floor, there is a hot desk zone, a co-working space for up to 16 people, on the west side there is an OA, information desk, and a test lab where ventures can test various devices, and on the east side there is a space that can accommodate up to 46 people. A training room, 1 conference room for 6 people, 1 conference room for 10 people, and 1 office for 9 people were placed. On the 4th floor, there are 5 offices, a phone booth, and a mailbox on the west side, with a hot desk zone and 2 4-person conference rooms, and 10 offices, a 6-person conference room, OA, and a swing lounge are located on the east side. . Also, because the bathroom in the existing building had no door and there were privacy issues, access to the bathroom was handled through a temporary wall design.
