Capital Square Beijing, originally Borui Plaza is located on the North Road of the East Third Ring Road in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, adjacent to Tuanjiehu Park to the south and at the intersection of the East Third Ring CBD district and the Yansha business district. With its prime location in the East Third Ring Road area, Capital Square Beijing also has a unique geographical advantage with exclusive water resources that are hard to find in Beijing. The building is surrounded by well-served public transport close to the Tuanjiehu Lake and Hujialou Station on Metro Line 10.
The façade design of the building is elegant and dignified, but the original interior is mostly made of stone, with a classical and calm tone, which is a bit archaic with depressingly dim lighting. In the renovation, CLOU’s design attempts to light up the whole space, using white wired glass to enclose the first floor of the office lobby, complement with well-designed lighting, forming a pure and bright "white lantern" in the centre of the lobby, signifying the future prosperity and success of Capital Square Beijing.
In the floor plan optimization, CLOU discovered that the east lobby was also highly utilized, but the entrance was not obvious and the surrounding environment is poor. CLOU redesigned the east lobby with a more effective arrangement of courier cabinets and retail island shops, optimizing the overall interior environment and creating a vibrant space even for small places.
Additionally, the signage is designed to complement the interior design. The material choice continues to be gold stainless steel with a simple, square font. The design of the signage blends perfectly with the overall interior environment, making it a refined and vibrant new place.
