Elevating Design in Clapiers

In Clapiers, southern France, a vegetative land boasts an intriguing slope and optimal orientation. While the dense foliage offers privacy, it also obscures the view. Thus, the central challenge for the CVD house was clear: harness the light and transcend the treetops.

A House Above the Rest

We decided to elevate the entire house. Strategically stretching the house’s volume along the land’s length ensures prime orientation for all main rooms. This elevated design rests on foundational “base volumes.” These volumes manifest as a carport and a technical room on the ground floor.

Intertwining Spaces

This stacking technique creates a blend of full and void spaces, each serving a purpose. Upstairs, a shaded outdoor area emerges, perfect for an alfresco living room. Additionally, a summer kitchen seamlessly connects to the swimming pool.

Embracing the Landscape

The ground floor’s transparency underscores the land’s vastness and topography. By incorporating terraced designs, the landscape itself takes center stage, punctuated by tailored settings for each area.
